Second generation domain names are now becoming increasingly more prominent on the WWW - ones like .nu .to .cc and .uk are particularly fashionable. The advantages of having an alternative ending are numerous. Obviously, these domains are much more available. That means that you can have more or less whatever you like, and people will remember the whole address, rather than just a complicated string of words. Your customers are much more likely to remember cars.cc than cars-online-now.com. As well as that, an alternative domain is likely to be much cheaper and far easier to edit or transfer than a Network Solutions domain.
Your domain name should be memorable, enabling fast access for your customers. Even the cheaper, 'second generation' domain names are easier to remember than long chains of words. People are much more likely to visit a site which they know the address of, and if you can associate that with your products and image, then you are much more likely to make sales! So, for the next domain, why not try a second-generation domain name? It's well worth it!
